How to Style this Pocket Square
This pocket square features two distinctive design elements on discreet portions of the body of the pocket square. Along its edge you find a linear organic pattern consisting of paisley motifs. The interior features repeating Macclesfield Neats pattern.
Taken together, these figurations allow for three individual ways to style this pocket square. A fold that emphasizes the edge of the pocket square, such as a banker’s fold, highlights the paisley border. A fold that focuses on the center of the pocket square, like a puff fold, displays the repeating micropattern. A fold that features both elements, like the Upside-Down Puff, will naturally display both patterns.
Sensational Silk
Silk, the epitome of luxury and sophistication, has long been revered as a symbol of elegance and status. When it comes to crafting pocket squares, silk stands unparalleled in its exceptional qualities. As a natural fiber that is both incredibly strong and astoundingly delicate, silk imparts on pocket squares a unique edge, allowing them to hold their shape beautifully when folded without losing their soft, supple texture.
The lustrous sheen of silk catches the light in a way that no other fabric can, providing a subtle glimmer that adds depth and dimension to your outfit. It’s this radiant quality that makes silk pocket squares a perfect accent piece for formal attire; they suggest a sense of refinement and attention to detail that complements a well-tailored suit or tuxedo.
The rich, vibrant hues that silk holds are another reason why it is such an extraordinary material for pocket squares. Silk fibers take on dyes with an unmatched intensity, resulting in colors that are deep, saturated, and remain vivid over time. Whether it’s the boldness of a bright red or the subtlety of a pastel blue, a silk pocket square can be the centerpiece that brings life to a monochromatic ensemble or the harmonious touch that ties together various elements of your attire.
Finally, the tradition and craftsmanship behind silk weaving add an intangible value to silk pocket squares. They are not merely accessories; they are heirlooms, tokens of artistry passed down through generations. To own and wear one is to carry on a legacy of artisanal skill and timeless style.
Storage
Although popularly considered a delicate material, silk and silk-wool blends are a very strong fiber that resists wrinkling. However, if left folded up for hours or days, creasing and wrinkles will eventually set in.
To prevent creasing and wrinkling, remove your pocket square when undressing and fold it into a square before storing it in a cool, dark area, like a drawer or cabinet, to protect it from sunlight and dust.
Pressing
If heavily crumpled, you should first attempt to use a garment steamer on a low setting to relax the wrinkles.
If the wrinkles persist, place a cotton cloth on top of your pocket square and then iron on top of it around the center, using the delicate setting.
Do not run the iron over the edges of the pocket square as this will damage the hand-rolled edges.
Cleaning
If your pocket square should become stained or dirty, do not wash it by immersing it in water. Instead, create a solution of tepid water and mild detergent and spot clean the pocket square with a clean cloth as needed.
If the stain persists, take your pocket square to a reputable dry cleaner that specializes in the handling of delicate fabrics.
