A Formal Belt
For Elevated Occasions
With the subdued shine of its black boxcalf leather and its clear, even finish, this belt is designed to be paired with sumptuous black shoes, especially wholecuts, oxfords, upscale derbies, and similar dress shoes. This formality is emphasized by the subtle tone-on-tone thread employed for this belt.
Black is the quintessential choice for men’s formal dress shoes, exuding a refined and dignified elegance that complements nearly every color. Unlike other hues, black remains consistent without significant shade variations, allowing a black belt to seamlessly pair with footwear across the formality spectrum—from sleek black leather sneakers to business staples like brogues, and even the most formal captoes.
In the realm of menswear, black is timeless. While it may not harmonize with every shade as effortlessly as some other leathers, it rarely clashes with any color. Black shoes are among the few that pair impeccably with black socks and trousers, perfect for occasions demanding the utmost formality.
Don’t Forget The Buckle!
To elevate this classic black belt, we recommend investing in both silver and gold buckles. The gleam of these metals offers a sophisticated touch, adding variety to this otherwise understated leather.
If you own black shoes, our Fort Belvedere belt is the ideal companion. You can be sure that you are investing in a belt crafted to exceptional standards, designed to endure and improve with age.

The Most Elegant Belt
The Finest Raw Materials
The hides for this belt come exclusively from calves. Calf skin is superior to cowhide in every way when it comes to belt leather, thanks to its exceptionally soft touch, dazzling grain appearance, and durable flexibility.
Furthermore, because these calves are raised in the colder climate of the Alps, there are fewer pests to bite their hides, meaning that the final hide has fewer blemishes.
From these hides, only the choicest sections of the croupon, or bend, of the hide are actually used. The croupon corresponds roughly to the central and lower back of the calf, excluding the spine area, because this section of skin affords the smoothest, softest, and most consistent leathers.
Made in a Heritage Tannery
The hide is then prepared in the same tannery employed by several high-end fashion houses, but that’s not why we picked the tannery. We were attracted to the deep, consistent color imparted by an intensive aniline-dyeing process. This leather has open pores so as the belt ages it will develop a unique and gorgeous patina that will make it feel and look all your own.
The leather finish is then protected through the use of proprietary waxes. These waxes even impart a water resistance to the leather, reducing the likelihood of staining or water damage as liquids pearl off of the surface.
We also appreciate that this tannery has been in operation for decades and we value their artisanal dedication to craft and the collective knowledge and experience of their craftsman workforce.
Truly Sublime Leather
This exclusive approach to leather production has created a truly exclusive leather. With a slightly shiny finish, delectably smooth hand, and incredible longevity, this leather is ideal for formal dress belts.

Additional Information
- Each belt is about 4.3 mm / 4/24″ thick.
- Each belt is about 29 mm / 1.14″ wide.
- Each belt weighs between 90 and 120 grams / 3 to 4.2 ounces.
- Each belt features five diamond-shaped holes for the prong.
- These holes are spaced about 2.5 cm / 1″ apart
- Please note that if you pin the belt through its last hole, it can accommodate waists of an additional 5cm / 2″, although we do not recommend wearing the belt in this way as it can appear distended or stubby.
Cutting Your Belt to Size
- Our belts are designed to be cut down to size from their unfinished edge so that they fit you perfectly. We offer individual sizing to reduce waste where possible.
- Try the uncut belt on for size to determine exactly where you want to cut it.
- Cut the belt down to size using sharp scissors or a sharp knife.
- If you are not sure about your size, you can always buy the longest belt and cut more of it down.
Care Instructions
- Due to an intensive dyeing process and the unique blend of waxes that protect their finish, our belts require minimum care.
- To keep the belt supple and shining, we recommend applying once every six months to a year a thin coat of clear quality shoe or leather cream.
- We suggest avoiding shoe polishes, as they can come off on your clothes or appear cracked if excess is applied to the belt’s surface.
Cleaning Instructions
- If your belt becomes dirty or soiled, first wipe down the stained area with a clean cotton or microfiber cloth dampened with a small amount of water. Allow the area to then dry fully.
- If the stain persists, you can apply a small amount of a quality leather cleaning solution, following all listed instructions.
- If your belt leather is ever nicked or damaged, apply a colored polish that matches your belt color over the damage area. Immediately wipe away any excess, and then polish the area with a cotton cloth.
Storage Instructions
- When not in regular use store your belts in a cool, dry place to prevent the leather from drying out or the color from fading.
- We prefer to store our belts hanging loosely from a belt rack or hook.
- If so desired, belts can be stored in a loose roll.
- Do not tightly roll your belt as doing so can cause the formation of creases.
How to Remove Creases
- If properly sized and cared for, this belt should not develop creases.
- If creases do develop, apply a leather cream to the affected area, following all listed instructions.
- We recommend utilizing a quality leather cream made with natural ingredients like mink, neatsfoot, or coconut oil, or beeswax.
