How to Play with Dark Gray
A dark gray wool knit tie is a splendid choice that combines sophistication with a touch of casual flair. Consider pairing your dark gray wool knit tie with a well-tailored suit. A charcoal or navy suit will complement the tie’s texture and color, creating a harmonious balance. Conversely, you could embrace texture contrast by combining your wool knit tie with a herringbone blazer or a tweed sports coat. The different fabric weaves will add depth to your outfit.
Opt for a crisp white shirt or a light blue one to provide a clean backdrop that makes the tie stand out. The subtle contrast will draw attention to the tie’s unique knit pattern.
For a more casual ensemble, wear your knit tie with a button-up shirt under a v-neck sweater or cardigan. This combination works perfectly for business casual settings or social gatherings.

How to Wear Wool Knit Ties
Knit ties, with their unique textured fabric, offer a delightful twist to the classic style narrative. They bridge the gap between casual charm and formal elegance, making them a versatile accessory for any gentleman’s wardrobe. Unlike their solid counterparts, knit ties provide a subtle nod to sartorial flair without demanding center stage, allowing for a sophisticated yet understated look.
Whether paired with a crisp suit or a casual blazer, a knit tie adds depth and character to an outfit. It’s this unique combination of refinement and approachability that makes knit ties an enduring element of classic style. They are not just ties; they’re a statement of timeless taste that whispers confidence and individuality in the world of menswear.
Please Note: Because this tie was knitted flat and shaped on a wooden mold, a small amount of size contraction takes place immediately after the tie is removed from the mold. As the fabric relaxes over time, the width and length of the tie will increase slightly. Keep in mind that as a handmade product, all stated dimensions are approximate and actual dimensions will vary slightly.
As a general rule, our ties have a length tolerance of 1.5″ – 4 cm
The Finest Merino Wool
Fort Belvedere has sourced a truly exceptional merino wool, ideal for pairing with their unique, circular knitting machines. The result is a line of knit ties that are not only seamless but also boast an ultra-soft texture and an elegant drape. The wool used in Fort Belvedere’s knit ties are crafted on heritage machines that are over 70 years old, epitomizing the pinnacle of traditional craftsmanship.
Unlike the common round-knitted ties, Fort Belvedere’s ties are meticulously flat-knitted—a process demanding the finesse of skilled artisans to create a superior product. Each tie is then hand-sewn down the center seam post-knitting, ensuring an elegant drape and enhanced durability.
To ensure the perfect form, the ties are individually set on wooden molds for several days, a classic technique that defines their distinguished silhouette.
Throughout every stage of creation, from spinning to the final sewing of tops and bottoms and attaching labels, quality inspectors diligently uphold the high standards synonymous with the Fort Belvedere name.
Cleaning
Do not attempt to wash this wool knit tie. If you notice a stain, spot clean it using the following procedure.
Gently blot any excess liquid from the stain with a soft, dry cloth. Do not rub, as this can damage the wool.
Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent, like Woolite.
Dip a clean, white cloth into the soapy water and wring out excess moisture. Dab the stain gently with the damp cloth.
Moisten another clean cloth with plain lukewarm water and dab the tie to remove soap residue.
Pat the cleaned area with a dry cloth. Then, lay the tie flat on a towel to air dry completely.
Storage
To prevent heavy creasing, never store your neck wear tied or knotted.
Undo the knot and then roll the necktie up in a firm but not excessively tight coil.
Allow it to sit in the coil for about a day to relax wrinkles.
To prevent stretching, knit ties should be stored rolled or flat.
