The Perfect Touch of Bottle Green
A clear sign that you have mastered the Black Tie Dress Code is your ability to subtly and elegantly inject color into your ensemble while maintaining the gravity expected of formal evening dress codes. This color, indicative of your personality and suited to the occasion, is best added through unobtrusive accessories like your bow tie, pocket square, or boutonniere.
These bottle green socks provide the perfect touch of color and unexpected visual interest to harmonize with a stately pocket square, or to set off a boutonniere. It’s also ideal for holiday parties, as the rich green sets of tartan dinner jackets and other garments and accessories typical of the festive season, including a matching cummerbund and bow tie set under the correct circumstances.
How to Wear These Bottle Green Formal Socks
Formal socks are necessary for formal dress codes like Black Tie, White Tie, and morning wear, although colorful varieties like these are best reserved for Festive and similarly more casual Black Tie occasions. They should be worn with opera pumps, formal evening slippers, patent leather or similarly formal oxfords, or formal dress boots. Because these socks are so sublimely thin and breathable, some of our customers also enjoy wearing them in warm and hot weather to keep their feet cool.
Formal Sock Etiquette
For conventional Black Tie, White Tie, or morning wear occasions, for which higher degrees of formality are expected, you should weartraditional black formal socks. On certain occasions, including events for which the dress code is Creative Black Tie, Festive Black Tie, or something similar, however, you have the opportunity to bend formal conventions and add vivacity to your look with colorful formal socks.
The bottle green of these socks is perfectly acceptable for all but the most formal Black Tie events. Whether harmonizing with other colorful accessories in your ensemble, setting off a toned dinner jacket, or serving as unexpected visual interest, these elegant socks will be right at home at the office holiday party with a tartan dinner jacket, ringing in the New Year at a swanky gala in a tuxedo, or when you are hosting friends at home in a decadent smoking jacket.

Why does Over-the-Calf Matter?
Few things will ruin the look of an otherwise sharp evening ensemble more quickly than short socks, because they will inevitably become saggy and baggy while exposing your legs. Traditional over-the-calf dress socks don’t have this issue as their length helps them stay up all day. It doesn’t hurt that in addition to remaining up, Fort Belvedere dress socks also look great, thanks to their subtle sheen and availability of formal evening socks in a select palette of sedate and dignified colors.
The Most Luxurious Materials
Combining 60% silk with 40% Egyptian 2-Ply Fil d’Ecosse cotton, the high-quality materials used for these socks have been carefully selected and proportioned to create socks that stay properly positioned on your legs while feeling light, comfortable, and airy. And their beautiful sheen is icing on the cake!
Sized For You
To ensure a comfortable fit and the correct positioning, your dress socks should always be sized, because no one’s feet are “one size fits all.” At Fort Belvedere, we proudly offer all of our dress socks in five sizes, from Small to Extra Extra Large.
To determine your size, use our accompanying size chart. We have also made a video tutorial to aid you in finding exactly the right size for your foot, taking into consideration personal preferences like desired tightness or looseness.
When your new socks arrive, they will appear large, but this is because they will shrink to the perfect size in the wash.
If you buy multiple socks, wash and then dry one pair first to double-check fit before shrinking all of the socks in the order.
NOTE: If you are in-between sizes or prefer a snug fit, always size down.
How to Care for Your Socks
- Your socks arrive with a green tag attached. To remove it, simply pull on the loose green thread.
- Do not use a knife or scissors as you could accidentally damage the fabric.
- Initially, your socks may appear large or loose. They will shrink in the wash.
- Wash your silk socks either by hand or machine on Delicate with appropriate detergent.
- The temperature should be Warm or 30°C -40°C / 86°F-104°F
- Put them in a little wash bag so it’s easier to pair them afterwards
- Ideally, you pull them in shape and you let them air dry.
- Why not put them in a dryer? Anything you put in the dryer will not last as long as it could if it was air-dried. Yes, we get it. It’s more convenient and our socks should be able to handle the dryer every once in a while, but if you want to get the most of your socks, do not dry them regularly.
- We suggest washing them in a garment bag to avoid bruising the silk.
- For best results, fully extend the socks and allow them to air dry.
- Why not put them in a dryer? The dryer is rough on delicate silk and will compromise the appearance and longevity of these silk socks.
