Fort Belvedere has christened this model of trousers the “Stancliffe,” evocative of a stately English manor house secluded amongst verdant trees and rolling hills, redolent with a life of ease, sport, and gentlemanly pursuits.
Sage Green = Ubiquos and Vibrant
GA rich and relatively bright green, this sage tone combines the ubiquity of an earth tone with the vibrancy of a lighter color. The result is a versatile pair of trousers that can be worn year-round and presents an easy opportunity to inject more green elements into your ensembles.
Combining Sage Green Corduroys with Shoes and Socks
Green is criminally underutilized in menswear, but this versatile shade will afford you plenty of opportunities for pairing it with a range of other colors, ensuring that it always has a place in your outfits.
To create pop, consider socks withred, yellow, ororangeelements: they will offset the warmer tan tones that underlay this shade of green. For a cooler look, literally and figuratively, embrace other cool colors, such as shades ofblueor other green tones: thanks to the vibrancy of this shade of sage and its unique shimmering texture, there is little risk of the socks and trousers appearing muddy together. This shade will also harmonize with almost all shades ofbrown.
Socks that combine these elements will be particularly versatile, such aspurple and greenoryellow and blue: you can make the look more formal or more casual based on the shoes you select.
When it comes to shoes, any variety of brown shoe will set off these trousers beautifully: go lighter for more casual and darker for more formal, although of course detailing like buckles, brogueing, and colorful shoelaces can add nuance to the look. Tan and buff shoes, especially monk straps, wingtips, or spectators, will highlight the brightness of this shade.
Rich and decadent red shoes, such as oxblood, maroons, and deep cognac, will add stately flash, but be wary of bright red shoes: the complementary colors could be just a little too bold. Contrast green shoes can also pair nicely, but avoid an overly tone-on-tone look that could appear muddy due to insufficient contrast, unless you have sufficiently high-contrasting socks to break up the trousers and shoes.
Boots, especially boots with contrast elements like suede, are always an excellent companion to corduroy because of the intersection of transitional-weather seasonality and unexpected texture. Cool-colored boots suitable for the fall in various shades of brown or dark earth tones like green or slate gray would pair especially well with these trousers.
In general, be wary of pairing corduroy with hot-weather footwear. As a rule of thumb, the fabric is simply too heavy for use with any style of shoe with which you might wear no-show socks.
Outfit Ideas for Sage Green Corduroys by Fort Belvedere
For a casual look that emphasizes the elegance of these trousers, consider dark brown suede ankle boots with sedate socks in an understated pattern, likegreen and brown stripes, and a light blue shirt: all eyes will be on these lovely trousers that add immediate visual interest.
To dress the look up, consider a pair of oxblood derbies withgreen and purple striped socksand a buff sport coat with white shirt: your lower half is playfully decadent and your upper half serenely sedate.
It’s not easy being green, unless you’re garbed in our next verdant ensemble. Combine a herringbone gray sport coat with brown, white, and blue striped shirt and anolive green tie with micropattern. Addgreen and brown sockswith dark chocolate ankle boots and abeltto match. Top everything off with awhite pocket square with blue contraststitching to harmonize with the shirt.
In general, the weight of corduroy requires a certain balance between your upper and lower half which is easily accomplished by layering. The simple addition of a sport coat will go far in making an outfit with corduroy look exceptional: focus in particular on textured fabrics, such as tweed, that will contrast while harmonizing with the cords of the trousers. Be wary, however, of hot-weather textured fabrics like seersucker, which is too seasonally incongruous to wear with corduroy.
You can achieve a similar effect with knitwear, such as a tennis sweater in the warmer months or cardigan in the cooler: add a scarf during colder weather to ensure that your upper half is as insulated as your lower.

How to Store Your Corduroy Trousers.
Your trousers will arrive neatly packaged in a box. Do not, however, store your trousers in the box as they can become creased.
We recommend storing your trousers on a hanger, either fully extended with a clip hanger or folded over a traditional trouser hanger: ensure that the hanger has a sufficiently thick rod to avoid setting in creases.
If you wish to store your trousers in a chest of drawers, fold them loosely – a tight or compacted fold can set in prominent creases.
How to Care for Your Stancliffe Corduroy Trousers
Wash your trousers with a mild powder or liquid detergent at 30° C or 86° F, which is the equivalent to “Warm” on most modern washing machines. Do not bleach your trousers and do not tumble dry. When air-drying, lay the trousers flat on a drying rack or towel.
When ironing, turn your trousers inside out and iron them on the “Warm” setting, indicated on most irons by two black dots.
Your Fort Belvedere Stancliffe trousers can be dry-cleaned with petroleum solvents only.
