Houndstooth, Reinvented with Silk
Houndstooth ties, also known as Dogtooth or Pepita ties, are a staple in a classic men’s wardrobe. Traditionally, the houndstooth pattern was employed for woolen sport coats, tweeds, suits, but also for accessories like ties. It has a uniquely masculine appearance and was favored for athletic and sporting attire, such as would be worn during hunts, shooting parties, or horseback riding.
Fort Belvedere redesigned the classic houndstooth tie by pairing it with a richly textured bourette silk in classic colors so you can look dapper no matter if you wear a navy or charcoal suit or a brown or green Donegal tweed jacket.
Simple Adjustable Sizing
Your bow tie has an adjustable neck size, meaning that it can be altered to accommodate your desired fit and comfort.
Simply remove the metal t-bar from the sizing loop and increase or decrease the length of the bow tie as needed, reinserting the bar into the desired slot when you have found your desired size.

Silk with a Raw, Unique Texture
Bourette silk, sometimes called raw silk, is a wonderfully unique fabric that embodies natural beauty and understated elegance. Unlike its smooth and lustrous counterparts, bourette silk boasts a textured surface of tiny specks and nubs. These irregularities are the result of shorter silk fibers and sericin residue, remnants of the silk worm cocoon, being spun into the yarn.
The tactile experience of bourette silk is unparalleled; it’s like touching raw silk harvested directly from nature. Its durability and excellent drape make it a versatile choice for those who seek comfort without compromising on style. For connoisseurs, neckwear made from bourette silk indicates ones devotion to the unique and the unexpected.
Care
Cleaning
Bourette silk neckwear should not be washed immersed in water as doing so can ruin the texture and color of the silk. Instead, spot clean your neckwear using the following steps.
Gently blot any excess substance from the stain with a soft, dry cloth. Do not rub as this can damage the fabric.
Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent specifically designed for silk.
Dip a corner of a clean, white cloth into the solution and test it on a hidden area of the tie to ensure it doesn’t cause discoloration.
If the test is successful, lightly dab the stained area with the dampened cloth. Use a gentle tapping motion and do not saturate the silk.
Moisten another clean cloth with plain lukewarm water and gently dab the area to remove any soap residue.
Pat the cleaned area with a dry cloth to absorb moisture, then leave the neckwear laid flat on a towel to air dry completely.
If the stain does not respond to the these steps, take the tie to a professional dry cleaner experienced in handling silk garments.
Storage
To prevent heavy creasing, never store your neckwear tied or knotted.
Undo the knot and then roll the neckwear up in a firm but not excessively tight coil. Allow it to sit in the coil for about a day to relax wrinkles.
To prevent wrinkles, store your neckwear hanging, flat, or in a very loose roll.
