The Tan Plan
Casual Cool in a Versatile Belt
Tan belts have been favored for decades for their laid back, stylish appearance. Unassuming but elegant, they are a beloved casual belt option that can always be dressed up when the occasion demands it.
Our shade of tan has brilliant warm red elements, hence our decision to brand it as “cognac tan.” This shade of tan cognac is somewhat lighter than most, inspired by caramel, and designed to mellow as it naturally develops a beautiful patina.
We find that this tonal approach not only creates visual interest, imparting personality on the belt, it also makes it more versatile, simplifying pairing options with any garment or accessory. And like a snifter of Remy Martin, this belt is a treat for the senses!
Styling a Casual Belt
While this belt can always be dressed up with more formal elements, providing a lighter contrast to darker shades, we feel it shines especially well as a casual belt. That is why we decided to adopt a pseudo-contrasting cream thread, which expresses the middle ground that this belt occupies on the formality spectrum.
A cognac tan belt is a versatile accessory that pairs well with a variety of shoe styles for a casual look. For a relaxed vibe, pair it with suede loafers or casual leather sneakers. If you’re aiming for a slightly dressier casual look, opt for brogues or derby shoes in a complementary color. The key is to keep the tones harmonious, ensuring the belt and shoes complement each other without clashing.
Captivating Colors
This cognac tan belt pairs beautifully with most lighter browns and blues and will look especially fetching with shades of green, like olive, or off-whites, like ivory. If you’re feeling bold, tan cognac can create a high-contrast harmony with greys and even black, although in more traditional circles it is not typically paired with darker colors. For those favoring a more unique look, however, that bold pairing has become a preferred choice.
Don’t Forget the Buckle!
Tonally, this belt appears most elegant with a gold belt buckle. With silver, the effect is less brilliant but also more formal, imparting an understated, upscale look.

Che Bella Belt!
Ciao Ciao, Cow
Italy has been an epicenter of luxury leather production for millennia, and to this day that legacy of quality expresses itself in the superior leather that comes from “the beautiful country.” And best of all, nothing goes to waste: while their hides become leather, the meat of these cows is utilized in Italian cuisine.
An Innovative Approach
We then approached an up-and-coming Italian tannery that embodies the history of quality typical of Italian leather production but with an eye for efficiency, modern techniques, and innovation.
The founders of this tannery wanted to create leather of exceptional quality for both household goods and garments, and to do so in a forward-thinking and sustainable way. Our visions aligned and we were astounded by the quality of their wares, and so our union was formed.
Silky Smooth Hand
For our belts, this tannery sourced hides harvested from the shoulders of cows. They selected cuts with no natural creasing, allowing for a smooth, even consistency. Each hide is then vegetable-tanned and finished with proprietary treatments that produce a dazzlingly deep and regular color and open-pore pattern.
The result is a clear, even, shimmering leather totally free from blemishes or markings of any kind, providing a visually pleasing and colorfully stunning belt for those who prefer a consistent appearance for their leather.

Additional Information
- Each belt is about 4.3 mm / 4/24″ thick.
- Each belt is about 29 mm / 1.14″ wide.
- Each belt weighs between 90 and 120 grams / 3 to 4.2 ounces.
- Each belt features five diamond-shaped holes for the prong.
- These holes are spaced about 2.5 cm / 1″ apart
- Please note that if you pin the belt through its last hole, it can accommodate waists of an additional 5cm / 2″, although we do not recommend wearing the belt in this way as it can appear distended or stubby.
Cutting Your Belt to Size
- Our belts are designed to be cut down to size from their unfinished edge so that they fit you perfectly. We offer individual sizing to reduce waste where possible.
- Try the uncut belt on for size to determine exactly where you want to cut it.
- Cut the belt down to size using sharp scissors or a sharp knife.
- If you are not sure about your size, you can always buy the longest belt and cut more of it down.
Care Instructions
- Due to an intensive dyeing process and the unique blend of waxes that protect their finish, our belts require minimum care.
- To keep the belt supple and shining, we recommend applying once every six months to a year a thin coat of clear quality shoe or leather cream.
- We suggest avoiding shoe polishes, as they can come off on your clothes or appear cracked if excess is applied to the belt’s surface.
Cleaning Instructions
- If your belt becomes dirty or soiled, first wipe down the stained area with a clean cotton or microfiber cloth dampened with a small amount of water. Allow the area to then dry fully.
- If the stain persists, you can apply a small amount of a quality leather cleaning solution, following all listed instructions.
- If your belt leather is ever nicked or damaged, apply a colored polish that matches your belt color over the damage area. Immediately wipe away any excess, and then polish the area with a cotton cloth.
Storage Instructions
- When not in regular use store your belts in a cool, dry place to prevent the leather from drying out or the color from fading.
- We prefer to store our belts hanging loosely from a belt rack or hook.
- If so desired, belts can be stored in a loose roll.
- Do not tightly roll your belt as doing so can cause the formation of creases.
How to Remove Creases
- If properly sized and cared for, this belt should not develop creases.
- If creases do develop, apply a leather cream to the affected area, following all listed instructions.
- We recommend utilizing a quality leather cream made with natural ingredients like mink, neatsfoot, or coconut oil, or beeswax.
