How to Style this Pocket Square

This pocket square features on its body a colorful repeating geometric medallion pattern and simple linear border with tonal edge detailing. As such, it can effectively be styled in three different ways depending on your chosen pocket square fold.

A fold that emphasizes the border of the pocket square, like a banker’s fold, will present a band of color and the tonal shoestring edge. A fold that highlights the body of the pocket square, such as a puff fold, puts the complex geometric motif on full display. Finally, a fold that incorporates both elements of the pocket square, like the Upside-Down Puff, showcases both elements for a very dapper look.

The Perfect Blend of Silk and Wool

It should be noted that printed silk-wool pocket squares are not as commonly found as silk pocket squares because it is difficult to create the perfect blend for the chest pocket. Unlike pure silk, linen, or cotton, this silk-wool blend is very springy, allowing it to easily retain its shape while resisting wrinkles. If you decide to switch from a puff fold to a crown fold, you will not need to worry about this pocket square acquiring unsightly wrinkles.

Care

Cleaning

Silk and blended silk neckwear should not be washed immersed in water as doing so can ruin the texture and color of the silk. Instead, spot clean your neckwear using the following steps.

Gently blot any excess stain with a soft, dry cloth. Do not rub as this can damage the fabric.

Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of mild detergent specifically designed for silk.

Dip a corner of a clean, white cloth into the solution and test it on a hidden area of the tie to ensure it doesn’t cause discoloration.

If the test is successful, lightly dab the stained area with the dampened cloth. Use a gentle tapping motion and do not saturate the silk.

Moisten another clean cloth with plain lukewarm water and gently dab the area to remove any soap residue.

Pat the cleaned area with a dry cloth to absorb moisture, then leave the tie laid flat on a towel to air dry completely.

If the stain does not respond to the these steps, take the neckwear to a professional dry cleaner experienced in handling delicate garments.

Storage

To prevent heavy creasing, never store your neckwear tied or knotted.

Undo the knot and then roll the necktie up in a firm but not excessively tight coil.

Allow it to sit in the coil for about a day to relax wrinkles.

To prevent wrinkles, store your silk neckwear hanging, flat, or in a very loose roll.
