Top Quality German Full-Grain Leather
Fort Belvedere sources the leathers for all our products from the same artisanal mills and each leather type is specifically chosen to excel in functionality for its chosen product.
Harvested from German Calves
The case is crafted from unaltered full-grain leather, sourced solely from young calves that graze in the elevated meadows of the Alpine region. Why is this significant? The Alpine climate is cooler, resulting in a reduced number of insects. A lower incidence of insects leads to fewer bites on the animals, which can otherwise damage the leather, causing imperfections. Additionally, while the hides of calves are more expensive than those of larger cows and bulls due to their size, the exceptional characteristics of calfskin—its resilience paired with softness—justify the cost.
Heritage German Tannery
These hides have undergone tanning and preparation at a historic German tannery with centuries of operation under its belt. This esteemed tannery is committed to crafting the most exquisite open-pored leathers, upholding the venerable legacy of German artisanry. In serving not only Fort Belvedere but also numerous elite and luxury fashion brands, it secures its reputation as a purveyor of premium leathers.
All-Natural Shrunken Calf Pebbled Surface
The textured pebbled appearance common in leather products is often the result of artificial embossing, aimed at producing a consistent pattern. However, this is not how we achieve the distinctive pebble or grain effect on our Togo leather.
Instead, it’s through a natural process where the leather is shrunken down, causing the surface to tighten and accentuate the grain, thus making it more pronounced. Given that leather is a natural substance, each pebble pattern is unique. There is variation even within the same piece of leather, guaranteeing that each item is genuinely one-of-a-kind.
This process of shrinking not only enhances the pebble detail but also marginally increases the thickness of the leather, enhancing its durability without sacrificing any of the material’s inherent softness or flexibility. Every single cut of leather has been meticulously chosen to best represent the stunning impact of the deep-pebbled grain.
Dry Hand & Scratch Resistance
In contrast to our other bullhide leathers, the calf leather we offer is crafted with scratch-resistant features. For those who prefer their leather without the natural markings and wear that open-pore leather acquires over time, our Togo leather is an ideal choice. Day-to-day use or minor scuffs will not alter its look or finish.
Our Togo leather also boasts a dry feel and enhances water resistance, though it does not reach the point of being waterproof. Open-pore aniline leathers are inherently permeable by water. Inferior leathers are often coated with a synthetic layer that grants them water-repellent properties, but at the cost of breathability. Our Togo leather offers you better resistance while maintaining the desirable qualities of an open-pore leather.
Formal Black Dye
This elegant passport holder, crafted from Togo leather, features a deep black hue achieved through our aniline dyeing technique. The color is thoroughly permeated into the leather for enduring vibrancy that resists fading. Boasting a luxurious texture and sophisticated shade, this accessory is perfect for the traveler who knows that everything looks good in black.
Elegant Tone-on-Tone Stitching
Our black thread melds into the black of this pen wallet, contributing to its rugged and utilitarian appearance. Nevertheless, each thread has been meticulously stitched in a back-and-forth pattern that ensures longevity and durability. The workmanship is even more impressive when you realize that the artisans can only see one side as they are working, so it requires extra care and skill to sew these together.

How to Use This Travel Document Holder
The day before your flight, we recommend that you load this document organizer up with everything you’ll need to travel.
In the passport pouches you can put your passport, or passports, if you have multiple, or you could carry someone else’s passport.
Any cards, such as identification cards, credit cards, banks cards, membership cards, and the like that you may need go in the seven card slots, which can be double-stacked to hold 14 total cards.
The slipway behind the cardholder slots could also store a third passport.
Everything else, including printed tickets, luggage check-in receipt, schedules, foreign currency, and travel-related ephemera goes into the full-sized central pocket, featuring an all-leather lining.
Once you reach your destination, unload whatever you require for day-to-day use, such as credit cards and identification, and transfer it into a travel wallet; Fort Belvedere offers a cardholder and a conventional bifold wallet, both in matching leather to harmonize with your passport protector.
Items you won’t need every day, such as extra currency, airline tickets, and customs documentation, can be stored in a secure location so you always know where everything is.
Care
To nourish the leather and keep it supple and appearing its most fine, we suggest that every couple years you apply an unpigmented shoe polish or cream to its surface. Buff the polish or cream as you would your shoes.
Cleaning
If water is spilled on this leather accessory, remove all items from it, blot away (don’t rub) any excess liquid, and allow it to air-dry fully.
Please note that artificially drying leather goods, like with a hairdryer or heat gun, will degrade the leather.
If this leather accessory should become stained, clean it following the instructions on the dedicated leather cleaner of your choice.
If the stain persists, take the accessory to a dry cleaner that specializes in cleaning luxury leather goods.
The Finest Bovine Leather
Fort Belvedere proudly sources four unique varieties of treated leather, each with its own special qualities. These particular leathers are employed for most of our small leather goods, allowing you to easily match the leather accessories in your ensemble.
Americana, Dumont, and Montecristo Leather
Our Americana, Dumont, and Montecristo leathers were all tanned in Italy with hides exclusively taken from English bulls. Why bulls? Leather from cows that have calved can stretch and warp, altering the look. In contrast, bull leather is free from these imperfections, maintaining the pristine, authentic quality of the material without reliance on synthetic alterations.
These skins then underwent our tanning process at an Italian tannery steeped in heritage, boasting more than a hundred years of operation. This establishment is not only committed to crafting the highest quality open-pored leathers, following the esteemed Italian artisanal methods but also prioritizes sustainable sourcing, fair labor standards, and reducing its environmental footprint.
Togo Leather
The leather for our Togo line of wallets was sourced solely from young calves that graze in the elevated meadows of the Alpine region.
